Setting up standby databases

On this immersive course, we’ll show you exactly how to set up physical, logical and snapshot standby databases. You’ll practise setting up different types using SQL commands, RMAN and the DBCA, and we’ll guide you through every step. You’ll also learn how to get things working in multitenant setups, which is increasingly common in the real world. Whether you’re starting from a backup or cloning live, this course enables you to feel more comfortable with any relevant setup tasks.

Using the Data Guard Broker

Managing databases manually can be time consuming. The Data Guard Broker is an effective shortcut to easier setup and administration. On this course, you will be guided through how to use the system to configure, manage and monitor your Data Guard environment with ease. You’ll learn to use the command-line tool (DGMGRL), test everything’s working as it should, and even run scripts for increased efficiency.

Backups, recovery and flashback

In this module, you’ll learn how to confidently manage database backup and recovery operations using Oracle’s Recovery Manager (RMAN). We’ll guide you through practical steps to protect your data, recover from file loss, and minimise downtime using features such as Flashback Database and the Data Recovery Advisor. You’ll also explore how to restore control files, recover individual data blocks, and perform tablespace point-in-time recovery. Realistic scenarios help you build practical experience in resolving common challenges faced by database administrators, ensuring you’re prepared to maintain business continuity and data integrity in critical environments.
