Oracle Database 18c Install & Upgrade Course Overview

This Oracle Database 18c Install & Upgrade course is designed to give the Oracle database administrator practical experience in installing Oracle Database 18c Grid Infrastructure and Database software. Delegates will also learn the various methods that can be used to upgrade an earlier release of the Oracle database software to 18c.

Versions supported 12cR2, 18c, 19c.

The delegate will learn and acquire skills as follows:

  • Understand the concepts of Multitenant architecture
  • Installing Oracle Grid Infrastructure for a standalone server
  • Installing the Oracle Database software in interactive mode
  • Installing the Oracle Database software in in silent mode and using response files
  • Creating a database with the Database Configuration Assistant in interactive mode
  • Creating a database with the DBCA in silent mode and using response files
  • Using Oracle Restart to manage software components
  • Preparing for an upgrade
  • Upgrading a database to Oracle Database 18c using the DBUA in interactive and silent modes
  • Upgrading an Oracle database manually
  • Carrying out post-upgrade tasks
  • Transporting a database using Data Pump
  • Importing data using a Data Pump network link

This Oracle Database 18c Install & Upgrade course is for anyone who needs to install and configure an Oracle 12cR2 or 18c database or upgrade an earlier release to Oracle 18c database.

Course Objectives

This Oracle Database 18c Install & Upgrade course is designed to give database administrators the knowledge and skills needed to install and configure an Oracle 12cR2 or 18c database. The Oracle Database administrator will gain practical experience in upgrading a database to Oracle 12cR2 or 18c database

Examinations

This course will aid the delegate towards their preparation for the following exam:

  • Oracle Database Administration II: 1Z0-083

Attending this course together with the following courses will help delegates gain many of the skills and product knowledge requirements as outlined in the exam objectives:

  • Oracle Database 18c Backup and Recovery with RMAN
  • Oracle 18c Container and Pluggable Database Administration
  • Studying this course and its associated reference materials can form part of the preparation to achieve certification. Experience, practice, self-study and aptitude are also key requirements for exam success.

    Before taking any exam, ensure you have the recommended experience. The Oracle website lists all exam requirements and these are updated regularly.

    Exams are not included as part of the course.

    Requirements

    Delegates who wish to attend the Oracle Database 18c Install & Upgrade course should have practical knowledge of administering an Oracle database. They should have attended either the Oracle Database 12cR2 Administration course or the Oracle Database 18c Administration course or have a good working knowledge of Oracle administration.

    This course is run on a Linux operating system, a basic knowledge of Linux/UNIX is recommended but is not essential.

    Where Oracle 18c courses are listed in the Pre-requisite Courses section equivalent Oracle 12c courses would also suffice.
