Introduction to MySQL Course Overview

The Introduction to MySQL course covers the basics of the SQL language as implemented by MySQL. The course is designed to give delegates practical experience in writing SQL statements using the MySQL client program and MySQL Workbench. The basic SQL statements, including the use of SQL functions and the basic table and view handling statements are introduced.

Exercises and examples are used throughout the course to give practical hands-on experience with the techniques covered.

Together with theMySQL for Developers course, this Introduction to MySQL course will teach the major topics required for the delegate to work towards achieving the following certification:

  • MySQL 8.0 Database Developer Oracle Certified Professional Exam

To achieve this certification candidates are required to pass the 1Z0-909: MySQL 8.0 Database Developer exam. Attending these courses will help delegates gain many of the skills and product knowledge requirements as outlined in the exam objectives. Studying these courses and their associated reference materials can form part of the preparation to achieve certification. Experience, practice, self-study and aptitude are also key requirements for exam success.

Before taking any exam, ensure you have the recommended experience. The Oracle website lists the exam requirements and these are updated regularly.

Exams are not included as part of the course.

Requirements

There are no formal pre-requisites for the Introduction to MySQL course, although an understanding of databases and exposure to information technology in general would be useful. This knowledge can be gained by attendance on the Relational Databases & Data Modelling Overview course.
