On completion of this course the delegate should be able to administer Solaris using specific advanced features of the system. Topics covered apply to recent versions of Solaris up to and including version 10.

- Managing Swap space
- Configuring and Managing the NIS Network Naming Service
- Control of remote File Systems with NFS
- Configuring a DNS Server and Client
- Configuring an LDAP Client
- Setting up the JumpStart facility to automate installation
- Managing Flash Archives for recovery procedures
- Managing the System and Program Dump file environment
- Managing system event logging with syslog
- Controlling access to files and directories using ACLs
- Allocating system tasks to users using Role Based Access Control (RBAC)

Attendance on the Solaris Introduction and Solaris System Administration - Part I courses or similar knowledge is required. Shell Programming knowledge is beneficial, but not essential. This skill can be gained by attending the Solaris Shell Programming course. |
