Linux Essentials (LPI) Course Overview

This highly practical instructor led Linux Essentials (LPI) course introduces the delegate to the main concepts of the Linux operating system. Targeted to closely follow the official LPI curriculum (generic Linux), , this course together with the Linux System Administration and the Linux Advanced System Administration course will enable the delegate to work towards achieving the LPIC-1 and LPIC-2 certification qualifications.

The most commonly used commands are described in detail as are the command line wildcard and redirection facilities.  The mechanisms by which a user acquires a login environment are discussed and the main features of the Bash Shell are introduced.  The Desktop environment will also be explored.

Who will the Course Benefit?

The Linux Essentials (LPI) course is suitable for anyone who needs to understand and use the Linux operating system.

This course will teach some of the necessary skills to enable the delegate to work towards achieving the LPIC-1 and LPIC-2 certifications. The topics covered are generic to most Linux systems.

Course Objectives

To provide the skills needed to work productively in a Linux environment.  The delegate will possess the fundamental skills required to begin their studies in achieving the LPI certifications.

Examinations

The Linux Essentials (LPI) course will teach some of the necessary skills to enable the delegate to work towards achieving the LPIC-1 and LPIC-2 certifications.  Together with the Linux System Administration and the Linux Advanced System Administration course, this course is suitable for delegates intending to sit the LPI 101, LPI 102, LPI 201 and LPI 202 examinations.  To gain the necessary skills for the certification topic 'SQL Data Management', the delegate should attend our Introduction to MySQL course.

Before taking any exam, ensure you have the recommended experience.  The LINUX website lists all exam requirements and these are updated regularly.

Exams are not included as part of the course.

Requirements

The delegate should be familiar with basic computer concepts and terminology e.g. hardware, software, files and directories.
